Just like most facial injections, the primary side effects typically involve bruising & swelling, which is why it's crucial to steer clear of any blood-thinning medications. We recommend that our patients refrain from taking medications & supplements known to thin the blood, including Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Vitamin E, & fish oil, for at least 7 days before their scheduled appointment. It's worth noting that alcohol, too, can contribute to blood thinning, so you might consider skipping any happy hours in the days leading up to your treatment for optimal results. If you're known to bruise like a peach, you may also consider taking Arnica supplements for the 3 days leading up to your appointment. 

Your appointment will begin with a brief consultation, allowing us to discuss your skin goals, determine the appropriate dosage, & establish expectations. Following this, your provider will apply a topical numbing cream, which will remain on the skin for 15-30 minutes, tailored to your pain tolerance.

Once the numbing takes effect, your provider will cleanse the skin then create a grid on each cheek to serve as a precise template for the injection administration. Afterwards the actual treatment begins. About 25-50 superficial droplet injections per cheek will be delicately administered, diffusing into an even layer. The entire appointment typically takes 45 minutes, with the actual injections lasting 15 minutes.

After the treatment, you may experience injection site redness, swelling, lumps/bumps, pinpoint bruising, tenderness, discoloration & itching that may last for the 24-48 hours. You'll begin to observe desirable results at 1-2 weeks, with the peak effect typically occurring around one month, and these results last six months.

In terms of downtime, most individuals can resume their daily routines immediately after the treatment, following some simple aftercare instructions provided by our provider. It’s important to note that you want to minimize exercise for the first 24 hours to reduce the risk of further swelling or bruising. It is also recommended to avoid makeup for the first 12 hours.
